The Humans of Rivercourse Counseling
Annalise John, LCSW
Owner, Rivercourse Counseling
Hi, I’m Annalise John, a licensed clinical social worker and the owner of Rivercourse Counseling in Salt Lake City. I specialize in helping young adults navigate Anxiety, ADHD, past trauma, and the general chaos of life. With a Master’s in Social Work from The University of Utah and advanced training in trauma therapy, I bring a mix of practical tools and compassionate understanding to our work together.
My approach isn’t one-size-fits-all. Whether we’re using Somatic Experiencing, Internal Family Systems, or exploring the meaning of your dreams, therapy with me is a space to heal, grow, and untangle life’s messier moments.
To the young people out there trying to figure it all out – I see you. You don’t have to do it alone. Let’s work together to turn the chaos into clarity.

All therapy services provided can be billed through your insurance if your insurance company is in-network with Rivercourse Counseling.
Dream consultations are not billable to your insurance.
If your insurance provider is not on the above list, you can still work with me! Contact your carrier and ask about your out-of- network benefits. We provide super-bills to all client’s with out-of-network coverage.
What is a superbill?
A superbill is a detailed invoice outlining the services a client received. Therapists may need to generate a superbill when they are not on a client’s insurance company’s panel. The client submits the superbill directly to the insurer, giving the insurer all the information they need to pay the claim.
Prospective clients are expected to contact their insurance provider to confirm mental health benefits and to ensure our clinic is in network with your plan. Session costs will go toward the deductible on your plan for in-network insurance coverage when applicable. It is helpful to ask your insurance carrier what your deductible, copay and/or coinsurance amount(s) will be for outpatient mental health therapy.
When calling your provider to inquire about coverage follow these steps:
Locate your insurance company’s phone number on the back of your insurance card
Once connected with a representative it is helpful to ask what your deductible, copay and/or coinsurance amount(s) will be for outpatient mental health therapy.
We understand that insurance can be confusing! Please reach out with any questions.
